A few years after both of my grandparents passed away, my mother took on the task of going through their possessions. She found a small box of a hundred or so intact matchbooks from restaurants and motels, each dated by my grandfather. They are all from the 1960′s. A lot of them are from Pennsylvania. A few follow a trek to Detroit. I’m particularly excited about the ones that work their way to New Hampshire.
On this tour, I plan on visiting the locations of at least a few of these to see if they’re still around.
